Marcelo Melamed, owner and head designer, began our company as a hobby in the summer of 2010, taking pieces of old, thrown away furniture and turning it into something new. While we still do ‘upcycle’ from time to time, after perfecting our technique we began to focus on building elegant, handcrafted pieces influenced by Danish Modern style, but also heavily inspired by the vintage, minimalist aesthetic of downtown New York and Brooklyn.
All of our work is made to order and made by hand using local vendors for our materials. We work closely with all of our clients to ensure that everything, from the size of the piece, to the stain, to even the style of knobs on the drawers, is exactly what they want before they place our work in their home. To see what we mean, just check out our feedback. We make sure the piece you get is your piece.
At StorNewYork we have never bragged about using only American materials and manpower. However, we are deeply concerned about the way in which production abroad is affecting the US economy, so we are very proud when we say that we consider our suppliers friends. Together with them, with our eyes on the long term, we support our products. We have the vision to provide quality handmade furniture made in the United States for generations to come.

The credenza that Marcelo's shop built for us is a true work of art. It was delivered yesterday, and we can't stop staring at it. Even our 2-year-old said, Wowww. The design, the wood, the craftsmanship, all are impeccable. We will be passing this on to our grandchildren and beyond. Thank you all for creating such a stunning piece of work.
